• Part 4

    Introduction:

This project is a sports application project that helps people exercise by motivating them with prizes and subscriptions to some Gyms. The name of the software is SporMap. The sports part in the title is because the main part of the application is a sporting application. For the map part, SporMap depends on the person's map and the current location to provide all of the services and features within the application. Such as finding people nearby or nearby Gyms and parks, and so on.

This test was performed on a group of people with similar and appropriate characteristics with the personas. Since the most qualified people have been chosen for the testing, each group member did the prototype testing with one of the personas. While these tests were present in the place that each member stays, the test was carried out face to face. Some people used the phone, and some people used the laptop. Then, the members recorded each user after getting them introduced to the application with the briefing generated by Hamzah Bajbouj. Users have described how they complete each task they were asked to perform and finish the task by stopping with the word "terminate".

    - This is the first Pages a User may see which are the sign-up and sign-in pages.

    - The main page after a user signs in.

    - These are pages for "Your Health Summary" and "Your Achievements" after the user clicks on them from the main page.

    - When a user tries to find a place to do sports these mapping pages would be shown to him/her. These are some of the options included in the "Find Sporting Zone" page.

    -  Another features in the application is the ability to add friends to challenge them and chat with them.

    - Also since the app has cooperation with some gyms these pages show how the gyms are displayed to the user.

Briefing notes, prepared by Hamzeh Bajbouj:

SporMap is a sports app application designed and developed to encourage different community slides to workout and do healthy exercises. It targets many different users starting from athletics how are professional in sport or general users how their main goal is only to do simple exercises.
One of its mains goals is to make the users work out together in an environment that encourages you to talk with other people and get new friends who share the same interests: work outings. You can make friend lists and contact with them via text messages or even voice call or videos through the app. All this within our app to serve one main purpose is to provide a friendly, healthy environment that encourages the users to go outdoors and workouts.

SporMap also gives users the option to track their health status and view the achievements they have done within the application, in addition to that it also suggests to you the most famous gyms nearby you where you can display gyms' details. Within the app, you can view sporting zones that you can join to work out with people in groups or individually, and you will also be able to view the users' details within each sporting zone.

You will be given three different tasks that you have to do. The purpose of these tasks is to test the application and check out any potential issues. Suppose you can complete the tasks without any difficulties, while you are doing these tasks. In that case, you are not limited to the features that we ask you to do as long as you do what you had been requested to do if you feel some other features within our app will help you to accomplish the tasks feel free to use them.

In the first task, users are required to find a sporting zone and join to it. In contrast, in the second task the users are supposed to check their achievements within the app and decided if they want to make new achievements or not *(up to them to decided), and finally in the last task the users will be asked to view the gyms that are suggested by the app and if the users want to contact with their friends about these gyms or not *(up to them to decided).

    Observations:

From what was observed during the implementation of the different tasks for different users, the users were as if they had prior knowledge of the application because the design of the user interface and its elements are straightforward and clear as well as the interface is similar to many other sports applications existed.

Task 1, finding a sporting Zone:

    (User 1)

As for the first user, from what was noticed through the video, the user accomplished the first task smoothly and quickly, as she pressed all the buttons she saw to know the entire parts in the task. Perhaps the missing part of it is that she did not log in at the beginning, where she immediately went to the task to record.

    (User 2)
    During task one the s
econd user knew that since it's his first time using the app that he has to make an account so he can continue, the user almost did not face any problem while he was doing the first task but I noticed some misunderstanding for some features from him, for instance, when the user clicked on view user profile button in the (location details page), he actually didn’t know that this option will show him all the users that are currently there but after clicking on it, he knew what this option does. it was also noticed that the user missed the part where you can challenge the people currently there or display their account’s info, he only read the users names, in addition to that the user did not notice that you can choose the type of sports activity that you want to do at the selected sporting zone. lastly, the last observation was when the user wanted to check the prizes, there was an obvious misconception from the user, he thought that the distance travelled is related to the Sporting Zone option, he didn’t know that it’s related to the distance that he travelled in order to collect the prize, not what he had travelled while he was in the sporting zone.

In addition to that, it was also noticeable that the second user had some misconceptions about returning to the previous page. For instance, in the end, after the user collected the prize, he clicked at the arrow to go back to the previous page in his thoughts, but instead, it directed him to the main page.

    (User 3)
    Note:
The user does not speak English fluently

This was the last task I asked the user to do since it is more complicated and I wanted the user to start smoothly by trying tasks 2 and 3 first.

When the user viewed the other user's profiles he asked me if he can add them to their friend's list, and then he pressed on the flag icon and thought that he managed to add them, but that flag is just to send a challenge invitation.

However, I tried to encourage the user to try all the App's futures and he managed to do everything smoothly from the first time like he already knew this App. But the user has been to the main page just after viewing the user's profile, so I asked him to go back again and try to start sporting. He asked me how to collect the prizes, so I explained that he should walk to the flag but this is just a prototype, so he can collect it by pressing on the screen -for now-.

I also give the user extra tasks to check the health summary, logout/in, and reset the password, and then he asked me if he can view the friend's list, so I give him the chance to do so. All of that was done smoothly and no problems were noticed.

Task 2, check the last achievements:

    (User 1)
The first user accomplished the task very briefly as she read the maximum number of steps she had and chose not to achieve a new goal and quickly finished the task. There were no problems encountered by the first user, as was seen through the video.

    (User 2)
When the second user started doing task 2, he knew where to go to check his achievements as well as he knew how to make a new achievement by simply go to the find sporting zone feature, but it was noticeable, the user took a lot of time to navigate from achievements page into the find sporting zone page.

    (User 3)
This was the easiest task since the user just needs to find the Achievements label from the main page and then it will be shown. And that happened smoothly but the user asked if he can show the date for a specific achievement, so we noted that.

Task 3, view SporMap suggested gyms:

    (User 1 and 2)
In Task 3, the first and second users did not encounter any problems while doing it, and doing so was easy and fast.

    (User 3)
The user found the label easily and quickly, but I noticed a noticeable problem if the user scrolls up/down some elements of the page still stable and do not move with scrolling as shown in the video. Also, When the user went to the main page I asked him to go back again and see if he could find all the needed details about the gym but he suggested adding a phone number.

    Findings:

Task 1, finding a sporting Zone:

Some metaphors should be changed and some metaphors should be added into the app especially in the part where the user's accounts can be displayed (figure 1), since there is no obvious way to tell the user how to display other users’ information like an icon, although it can be displayed by clicking on their names.
The flag icon should also be changed to make it clear since they were misunderstood by the user and should be changed or labeled as (Send a challenge) to identify its purpose. (figure 1 red label)

     Figure1

Task 2, check the last achievements:

Many things can be edited or added to make the options and feature much clearer to the users, for instance in the achievements page we can add an option that allows the users to directly start a new challenge to break their previous records or to make new achievements instead of going to the find sporting zone.

Task 3, view SporMap suggested gyms:

Based on the observations, task 3 was just fine but the error shown in (figure2) should be fixed as soon as possible. When scrolling up/down some elements still stable and covers some of the text. We did not notice that until user 3 told us.
Also, an option to call the gyms directly should be added since it is one of our main features

    Bottm line:
Another important improvement that can be done within the application is to provide a navigator bar at bottom of the user’s screen, which will allow them to go to the home page or other important pages directly, which will make it much easier for the users to navigate between the pages of the app, we also have to edit and paraphrase some sentences and words within our app to make it clearer and to be more understandable by the users. And the burger menu should be added to most of the pages, so users can exit and go to the main page easily since we noticed that in some tasks the user needed to go back 4 times just to go to the main page.
